Markets Recover As We Enter A Bumpy Seasonal Month
There’s not a lot to update on in this week’s Model and Spotlight note. We saw improvements across the board in most models albeit marginal. Equities got through some more of the mega cap earnings season as well as the FOMC meeting. Speaking of the Fed, Walsh is apparently floating the idea of decreasing the number of these voting meetings, which would make things a lot more interesting going forward if it gets done. The market rebounded with good numbers from Amazon and Microsoft however semiconductors still underperformed on the week by almost 5%. From here the large cap index is off its all-time high by 1.58% while micro caps are deeper in the red, -6.3% and small caps are down almost 2%. No major drawdown levels quite yet. August has historically been a volatile month for stocks; we’ll see if this year follows that trend.
